Plytech Ghana Ltd is pleased to announce the successful resumption of full-scale plywood manufacturing operations at our Daban, Kumasi factory — marking a significant milestone following years of strategic restructuring and machinery upgrades.
The factory, originally established as Saoud Brothers and Sons Ltd in 1996, has been comprehensively overhauled and relaunched under the new brand, Plytech Ghana Ltd. Operations now span all nine stages of plywood production — from log debarking and veneer peeling through to hot pressing, edge trimming, grading, and dispatch.
Upgraded Machinery and Renewed Workforce
The relaunch includes significant investments in the factory’s core production equipment. Industrial peeling lathes, roller dryers, glue spreaders, and hot-press machinery have all been serviced, calibrated, and returned to full operational capacity. A full complement of factory staff has been recruited from local Daban and wider Kumasi communities, reinstating livelihoods and skilled manufacturing employment in the region.
Products Now Available
Plytech Ghana Ltd currently manufactures four product lines from the Daban facility:
- Commercial Plywood — General interior construction, furniture frames, and partitioning (MR adhesive, BB/CC to C/C grade)
- Marine Plywood — High-moisture and exterior applications (WBP phenolic adhesive, BS 1088 standard)
- Hardwood-Faced Plywood — Premium furniture and architectural joinery (E0/E1/MR adhesive, A/B to B/BB grade)
- Film Faced Plywood — Concrete formwork and heavy civil engineering (WBP phenolic, construction grade)
All product lines are manufactured in the standard 1220 × 2440mm (4×8 foot) dimension, with thickness options from 3mm to 25mm depending on grade and type.
